Deadlines Approach for Candidates’ Financial Disclosure and Campaign Finance Filings -- Extended Hours
MADISON, WI – The Government Accountability Board reminds candidates in the November 2 Fall Election that two important deadlines are approaching.
Friday, July 16, at 4:30 p.m. is the deadline for candidates for state offices to file their Statements of Economic Interests (SEI), a financial disclosure form that is required to get on the ballot.
Tuesday, July 20, at midnight is the deadline for all candidates and committees registered with the G.A.B. to file their July 2010 Continuing Reports using the Campaign Finance Information System (CFIS). The report covers campaign finance activity for the first six months of 2010.
G.A.B. staff will be working additional hours to answer phone calls and e-mails from candidates and committees who have questions about the filing process. Staff will be available on Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and until 8 p.m. the evenings of Monday and Tuesday, July 19 and 20. Staff can be reached at the G.A.B. Help Desk, 608-261-2028, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A list of which candidates have filed SEI forms is available online at http://gab.wi.gov/elections-voting/results/candidates. Under state law, the forms themselves must be requested in writing. Campaign finance reports are posted for viewing by the public online at http://cfis.wi.gov, and are available shortly after they have been filed in the system. Click on “View Filed Reports.” As of July 14, 386 of the approximately 1,500 reports due have already been filed.
