Legislation is pending that would require a signer of a nomination paper to legibly print his or her name next to his or her signature. It is unknown if or when the legislation will pass. However, the legislation could be signed into law to be effective as late as April 14, 2014, in order to be effective for the first day to circulate nomination papers (April 15, 2014). Consequently, it is advisable for candidates to prepare a nomination paper form that includes a “Printed Name of Elector” column. A sample has been included in the attachments above.
